Traditional Orkney Chairs

Orkney Crafts

With its dramatic ever-changing light, vast expanse of sky and turbulent encircling oceans Orkney has long attracted and encouraged artists and craftsmen.

Many intend only to visit Orkney but fall in love with the colours and landscape and often remain for much longer than originally intended.
Many however, like Jackie and Marlene Miller, grew up in Orkney and have always drawn inspiriation from their homeland.

Today Orkney is a centre for high quality traditional crafts such as the Orkney Chair and is a notable centre of silver work.
