We make driftwood chairs!
Driftwood chairs are arguably the most authentic traditional Orkney chairs
and Scapa Crafts are unique in making them. These chairs are made of driftwood

I stitch every chair. Every back is different but every one has to be
just right before I’m happy. A strawback can involve several hundred
individual stitches and each one has to be right.
The straw we use is locally grown in Orkney ; the long, strong, golden straw is perfect for the strawwork of our chairs.
We take as much care with the joinery work.
Our joiners are excellent and we take particular pride in the quality of the finish and polish of the chairs.
We know it may be possible to buy cheaper Orkney chairs but we put the extra time into the chairs and refuse to compromise on the quality.
